Sometimes mistaken for eczema; psoriasis can involve the joints as well as skin, nails, scalp. While there is no cure, there are many new treatment options available.

Medical research has yet to uncover the cause of psoriasis, a skin condition that, in extreme cases, can cause arthritis. Psoriasis is an excess in skin cell production, which can appear as an inflamed, red, scaly patch in the following areas:

• Elbows
• Genitals
• Knees
• Scalp

While psoriasis is not contagious, it is chronic - which means that the treatments available can only serve to minimize the frequency and size of outbreaks, and aid in any discomfort you might feel with current outbreaks.

There are several types of treatment we can recommend, including:

• Oral medication regimen
• Phototherapy
